Thread of the Week

These past couple of weeks in B250 have given me the opportunity to learn about website and hosting options. This has been very good for me to learn about as I had no knowledge of them prior to taking this class. In fact, my son in law works for Blue Host and I didn’t ever really understand what he did. Since learning about web hosting sites, I have talked to my son in law about them and have gained a little more insight into the process. This week, I also really enjoyed looking at other websites in the same business as I want to have. It was very interesting to notice different color schemes, trends, instructions, etc. that made one more user friendly over another. Because I am selling a custom service, I discovered a great idea about requiring a deposit prior to the work being started. This helps know that if the customer doesn’t pay timely, or at all, at least you have something for your time. I really don’t foresee non payment being an issue as they are custom t-shirt quilts ...

May 5, 2018 Wow! Week 02 has just about ended and I have already learned something new; Google AdWords. I do have to say that it seems like a great tool to use, especially demonstrated by the exercise we did between the keywords of snowboards and chess. Then I realized that AdWords is the little icon that is placed next to a website in Google at the top of the page. I can honestly say that I never click on that link because I thought it would be something bad. So, if I use AdWords in my business, am I going to lose potential customers because they won't click on the link? I wait to see as the weeks go on to see how this all works. I wasn't very excited about taking this class as I really don't have the desire to be an entrepreneur, but as I started to think of the influential people in my life, I realize that they all have had some type of entrepreneurial spirit about them and that is probably what made them so influential to me.
